Dear Fellow Members of Korean Orthopaedic Association

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Korean Orthopaedic Association (KOA).
Since its foundation in 1956, the Association has grown into one of Korea's flagship scholarly associations over the last five decades thanks to members' dedication.
Currently, we has more than 5,200 members and 17 branch associations across the nation. Along with the growing membership base, we also strives to promote and support
members' research activities by publishing its journal every other month. We have increased publishing frequency since we started publishing The Journal of Korean Orthopaedic Association in 1966 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary. We also launched an English-language journal and seek the listing in SCI. The English journal was titled "Journal of Musculoskeletal Surgery" in 2006 and earns recognition in the international medical community.
It is obvious that members' dedication and collaboration has been a driving force for achieving such development of the Association. Apart from growth of the Association, many members have strengthened their scholarly achievement by publishing their research findings in the world's promising academic journals and increasing international exchanges.
The forthcoming Korean Orthopaedic Association Autumn Conference is specially designed to celebrate its 50th anniversary under the slogan of "Beyond the 50 years" and at the same time serve as a starting point for preparing for another leap forward. We will have an opportunity to look back a half-century history of the Association and acknowledge members' remarkable dedication to it. Given the significance of the meeting, we will stretch the meeting to four days this year from October 18 to October 22 and have already invited about 50 orthopedists and medical professionals from around the world. Thus the coming meeting is intended to promote understanding and recognition of brisk activities of the Association and further exchange among medical professionals in the world.
Briefly, the conference includes congratulatory speeches, including video messages from highprofile scholars and an exhibition of members' accomplishments made during the last 50 years, including new technologies, designs, instruments and equipment, and profiles of previous chairs
and current chair of the Association. A separate exhibition will be held to show books and periodicals published by the Association and its members along with the book "The 50-year history of the Korean Orthopaedic Association", published in conjunction with this conference. There will be a ceremony celebrating the 6th edition of the Orthopaedic Textbook and a time capsule dedication to the next 100 years. On the last day of the meeting, lectures will be provided for members running their own practices.
I hope we are all together again in the forthcoming meeting to celebrate our 50th anniversary, commit ourselves to the further development of the Association and share friendship with our peers from other countries. Your presence will ensure a successful and stimulating academic forum.

Look forwarding to seeing you all soon.

Dear Fellow Members of Korean Orthopaedic Association,

This is the time of harvest and maturity. Facing this fruitful season, we can make ourselves ready for a remarkable occasion to gather together and share our interests. I am greatly pleased to invite you all to the 50th Korean Orthopaedic Association Autumn Conference.
The Korean Orthopaedic Association (KOA) has grown into one of the leading scholarly associations over the last five decades while all of the members dedicated their time and effort to fulfilling their roles. Now there are more than 5,200 members and 17 branch associations across the nation. The forthcoming conference will mark KOA's 50th anniversary and at the same time serve as a starting point for preparing for the development of the association for the next half century. A variety of programs and events are scheduled in the meeting to promote the scholarly exchange and friendship among members.
This conference will be the largest gathering in the history of KOA as it takes place for 4 days, and 49 expatriate scholars are invited for lectures and speeches for this meeting. A total of 366 research findings will be presented throughout this meeting. In addition, the book "The 50-year history of the Korean Orthpaedic Association" will be published in conjunction with the autumn conference. A time capsule dedication ceremony and a photo exhibition will be also held on the sideline of the meeting.
I hope we all gather together and take part in the academic forum that is especially designed to commit ourselves to the further development of the association in coming years. Your presence will ensure a successful and stimulating conference.
